Crystal Beach sits east of Destin Harbor, running along Scenic Highway 98 toward Henderson Beach State Park. It is a real residential neighborhood, not a master-planned resort, which is exactly why people like it. The streets running north and south off Scenic 98 are lined with vacation homes painted in coral, turquoise, and yellow, many with private pools, and the beach is a short walk away over the dune walkovers. Compared with the high-rise stretch in Miramar Beach, Crystal Beach trades on-site resort amenities for space, privacy, and a slower street-level feel.
These are the two most common Destin-area choices, and they are genuinely different trips. Miramar Beach gives you the big Gulf-front condo buildings with resort pools, on-site amenities, and Silver Sands outlets nearby. Crystal Beach gives you a house, a yard, a private pool, and a quieter street, with the beach reached by walking rather than stepping off an elevator.
